In 1980, Mike Stutland began his celebration of creativity and inspiration by opening a gallery of fine American Craft. He wanted to create a space where people could view and purchase the heirlooms of tomorrow. More than that, though, Stutland wanted these items to be handcrafted by American artisans. Items for his unique boutique would be hand-picked and visually impressive, something worthy of holding on to and passing along to children and grandchildren.
Artique has won many local and national awards. Stutland was recently honored with the 2007 NICHE Top Retailer Award. Artique has won the magazine's 'Top 100 Retailer Award' seven times in the past ten years.
Mike Stutland, with his positive outlook and unorthodox approach to business, has created a business that has become a much-loved staple of Lexington.
